# Docmargin > Docmargin is a web application for sharing HTML documents and discussing them through inline comments anchored to selected text. The product website is https://docmargin.com/. The application is https://app.docmargin.com/. ## Product Users upload an HTML document, share access, and select text to start comment threads. Readers can mention teammates, reply, and resolve threads. The uploaded document keeps its layout and styling; comments live alongside it. Docmargin is free to use, with no card and no document limits. Publishing and commenting require an account; sign-in is with a Google account. Reading a public document requires no account. Docmargin is a review and sharing tool, not a document editor. It works with HTML documents created by people or generated with tools such as Claude and Codex. Typical documents include design proposals, research reports, project plans, and RFCs. ## Versions and sharing - Uploading a new version reattaches existing comments to their selected text where possible. - Threads on removed text remain accessible under “Not in this version.” Earlier document versions are available. - Documents are private by default. Owners may share with named email addresses, signed-in people with a link, or the public. - Public documents can be read without an account. Commenting requires sign-in. - Publishing is available through the upload form, the REST API with a personal access token, the `@docmargin/cli` command, and the MCP server for AI agent integration. - Over MCP an agent gets the tools `publish`, `list_documents`, `get_document` and `get_comments`. Publishing under a stable `key` and reusing that key makes the next publish a new version of the same document, with existing comments still attached. ## Official links - [Product overview](https://docmargin.com/): Features, interactive preview, and answers to common questions. - [How it works](https://docmargin.com/#how-it-works): Upload HTML (or publish from an AI agent via the MCP server), share access, and leave inline comments. - [Features](https://docmargin.com/#why-docmargin): Original HTML styling, contextual feedback, and document versions. - [Frequently asked questions](https://docmargin.com/#questions): Supported documents, access controls, versions, publishing, and MCP integration. - [Open Docmargin](https://app.docmargin.com/): The application; some actions require sign-in. - [Upload a document](https://app.docmargin.com/new): Start sharing an HTML document. - [Connect an agent](https://app.docmargin.com/connect): One-line MCP and API setup for Claude Code, Codex and other clients. - [Privacy](https://docmargin.com/privacy): What is collected, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. ## Interactive preview The landing page's “A calmer way to work” document and named collaborators are fictional demonstration content, not customer testimonials or Docmargin policy.
