Docmargin holds your documents and the conversations people have about them. This page says what that means in practice: what is collected, who can see it, and how to make it go away.

The short version
- Signing in with Google tells us your name, email address and profile picture. Nothing else.
- Your documents and comments are stored so they can be shown to the people you share them with.
- There are no ads, no analytics and no third-party trackers. Your documents are not used to train anything.
- You can delete a document or a comment at any time, and ask for your account to be removed entirely.
What is collected
When you sign in
Docmargin uses Google to sign you in. Google passes on your name, email address and profile picture, which are stored so that your documents have an owner and so that other people see who wrote a comment. Docmargin never receives your Google password and asks for no other access to your Google account.
When you publish a document
The HTML you upload is stored as you uploaded it, along with every version you publish afterwards, any title or change note you give it, and the time each version was published. Documents published by an AI agent or the API are marked as such.
When people read and discuss it
Comments, replies, mentions and whether a thread was resolved are stored against the text they were written about, together with their author and timestamp. The email addresses you share a document with are stored so that access can be checked.
Technical
A cookie keeps you signed in; it is required for the app to work and is not used for tracking. Servers keep ordinary short-lived request logs for diagnosing faults and abuse.
Who can see your documents
A document you upload is visible only to you until you widen it. You can share it with named email addresses, with anyone signed in who has the link, or with anyone at all. A public document can be read without an account; writing a comment always needs one. Documents opened up to link access are never listed to other people — they have to be given the link.
Staff can access stored data only where it is needed to operate the service, such as investigating a fault or a report of abuse.
When somebody mentions you or replies to your thread, Docmargin can send a batched notification email. Delivery is handled by Resend, which processes the message and your address for that purpose. Every email carries an unsubscribe link, and notification email can be switched off at any time in the app's notification settings.
What is not done
Your personal information is not sold or rented. It is not shared with advertisers or data brokers. Your documents and comments are not used as training data for machine learning models, and are not shared with anyone beyond the people you gave access to and the providers named on this page.
Keeping and deleting
Documents, versions and comments are kept until you delete them. Deleting a document removes its versions and the comment threads on it. To have your account and everything attached to it removed, write to the address below and it will be done.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data held about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, or to object to how it is used. Ask at the address below and it will be handled.
Services Docmargin relies on
- Google — sign-in.
- Resend — sending notification email.
- The hosting provider that runs the servers and database the application stores its data in.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top of this page changes with it, and anyone with an account will be told before the change takes effect.
